Blogger Must Haves for Better Fashion Photos

better fashion photos
As fashion bloggers, we all know that having great photos can really help your blog stand apart from the pack. But if you’re just starting out and haven’t invested in a professional kit yet – don’t worry. While there is no substitution for having a professional photographer follow you around with a DLSR, with the right tools your iPhone will do more than enough to capture stunning and detailed photos. Plus its the easiest way to share via Instagram instead of transferring digital images from a camera, to your computer and back to a smartphone or tablet. We’ve rounded up a few of our favorite products for your iPhone (or Android), and some tips that will work no matter what you’re shooting with.

iPhone Olloclip

This little gadget gives new life to your iPhone camera by adding different lens features that easily clip onto your phone. Use a macro lens when you want to get close up with your newest baubles or details in fabrics. Clip the wide-angle lens on to the front-facing camera to include everyone in your event selfies. Or shoot some more artistic shots with a fish-eye lens. How creative you get with these lenses is really up to you, but their size and portability means you don’t have to drag your DLSR all over town if you would rather throw your phone in your bag and go.

Joby GorillaPod Stand

These are hands down our favorite tri-pods, for either a DLSR or using your iPhone or Android. When you don’t have a photographer handy, set up your camera from any angle or surface and set the photo timer. I love that I can leave the case on my phone and still use the GorillaPod. But if you don’t want to frantically dash into your photo, our next recommendation is for you.

HISY Camera Remote

There are a ton of these little gadgets on the market, but our favorite is the HISY Bluetooth Remote for how easily and quickly it pairs with our phone and the cute colors it comes in. It’s small enough to hold in your hand while taking photos without being overly noticeable (or seen at all if you’re creative with your angles). The only item I would add to my closet to replace this would be an Apple Watch, which also lets you control an iPhone camera remote.

Creative Market

Now that you’ve got your photos in top form, one of the final touches is editing and perhaps some text overlay. Creative Market is a curated, independent market full of top quality Photoshop Actions, Palettes and Fonts. These metallic paint styles are reminiscent of the metallic temporary tattoos we’ll continue to see all summer long and would be great design additions to any site or photo. At the very least, its easy to spend an hour browsing through designs, fonts and even stock photography (or a new blog theme!) – consider yourself warned.

It’s great to see alternative options to styling photos with your iPhone. I wanted to originally get a smaller camera than my Nikon DSLR, but I’ve heard phones work just as well (if not better). I love that there are lenses and tripods available to help you with all your phone needs, I’ll have to check out those products!

Love these tips because yeah, most of us can’t afford a professional photographer to follow us around, and yes, pictures are EVERYTHING! Thank you for sharing!

Hi there I registered with IFB months ago and can’t seem to login nor have received a confirmation email. I also messaged you on Facebook and no one has gotten back to me either. Am I missing something or is there a glitch on the site or something? Are you able to help me? I’d really like to get my account up and running ASAP.

    Thanks!

Love it! Ordered the lens, the gorillapod and the bluetooth remote for my iPhone 6Plus. I don’t always have someone to take pix so the gorillapod and the remote are going to come in very handy!

The OlloClip lens is genius! So long selfie stick. I’ll be grabbing one of these for those wide shots with friends. That fish eye view above looks great too!

I’ve been trying to save up for a DSLR, but I can’t get over how convenient a compact camera is to handle and carry about since I have very busy days and take my own photos.

Great tips though, now, I’m even thinking how much more convenient using a phone would be with the OlloClip lens

Great! Also, when it comes to mobile phones, what is better for fashion bloggers?! For example, a iPhone 6 or a Samsung S6?!

Thanks for the tips. I have been working for months now to get as close to the blogs who can afford professional photographers. I guess what you said is the next best that we can do. Thanks!
