Daily Inspiration: Well Shit, At Least You Tried.

shit atleast tried

I literally laughed out loud when I saw this image, followed by a deep feeling of, “Oh, shit. Well, it's true.”

As we get older, we expect to be perfect, knowledgeable, and experienced the moment we start something.  Sometimes we get crippled by the idea of doing something new, learning a skill, or stepping outside of our comfort zone, and we never even try.  I know I'm guilty of this a lot of times.  But the fact is, whenever I try something, I learn something about myself.  I learn whether I have a fondness for it and am willing to keep trying, or that it makes me miserable.  It may come to a surprise to me that I am capable of more than I anticipated, or that I'm stronger than I believed.   Sometimes I'm just as lousy at it as I expected, but I find a determination deep inside myself to do it. (Running, I'm looking at you!)

So, when you're confronted with something you're excited about, nervous for, or eager to experience…try it. Whether you'll be good or not, whether you know anything or not.  Just try it.  Even if it blows up in your face or backfires on you, at least you can say, “Well shit. At least I tried.”

Which is more than a lot of people can say.

this is exactly how I’m feeling…I switched by blog over from blogger to wordpress this past week and I’m having a lot of trouble with fixing the DNS. before I made the switch, “its now or never.” –which I guess is true. Better to take chances than not.

P.S. if anyone knows anything about DNS, please let me know. I would be very very grateful! 🙂

This really made me smile! I have said this phrase before and have no doubt I will say it again! But what I won’t do is be too afraid to try!

Thank you for posting this. I am currently promoting a film screening of the fashion documentary “Scatter My Ashes at Bergdorf’s” via Tugg.com and we are two days away from the ticket deadline. We need to sell 52 tickets in 2 days or the screening is canceled. This is our first attempt at hosting one of these things with a Runway show prior to the screening and lots of other sponsors promoting it. It’s not looking good :/
We’re two days away from an epic fail and “Well Shit, at least you tried” is going to be my mantra! Thanks for the encouraging words. xxoo -Ryan

This is so true. And that’s what I’m trying to do, not only as a blogger but most of all as a human being. It can be difficult (and so scaring) but few months ago I read, just by chance, a statement by Erika Jong which said “If you don’t risk anything, you risk even more”. So inspiring, don’t you think?
